The Bigger They Get

A family is a unit composed not only of children but of men, women, an occasional animal, and the common cold. Ogden Nash (1902 - 1971)

Van-quished

July 22nd, 2008 · 2 Comments

We put our van in the shop today to have a hitch installed so we can move Daughter to Chicago next week. We also asked that they change the oil and check the fluids for the trip. Our car guy called this morning and reminded me that when we’d had the van in for inspection he’d told us we’d need front brakes at our next oil change.

Oh, right. I forgot.

And, he says, you really need four new tires.

Uh Oh.

The total bill? $1200. But the car will be in excellent shape when he’s done.

And that’s a good thing because at this rate it won’t be long before we’re living in it.

I call shotgun.

Aaah, the parallel lives we’re leading.

I need to get new tires on the Sienna before driving MVP to Colorado for college next month.

Luckily, hubby does the brakes. Apparently it’s quite the easy job on a minivan.

We drive by a 300 sqft dilapidated old house every couple days on our way to run various errands. Every few months the thing gets filled with squatters, who a few months later get tossed out. The house and land has been for sale now for a year - and each time we drive by, Diane and I joke about how much closer we are to buying that house than we thought we’d ever be.
