Other people’s kids are cool once they pass about 12 but I find until then they are utterly annoying. Keep in mind all kids, to me, are other people’s kids as I have none to speak of.
I love that you consider them your own. I had a couple friends with parents like that.

I think might be that same mothering weariness that led to a game of beer pong in which my h.s. freshman daughter, aka Sober Girl, was allowed to be my ringer!
